About the Festival
The Chroma International Music Festival is a new summer festival launching in July 2026 in Miskolc, Hungary. Founded by pianist and educator Dr. Shuai Wang, the festival is a personal artistic project rooted in excellence, mentorship, and cultural exchange.
A New Vision
Founded by acclaimed pianist and Steinway Artist Dr. Shuai Wang, Chroma is a personal artistic project created to nurture the next generation of musicians. The festival offers an intimate space for young artists to grow through mentorship, performance, and cross-cultural connection.
Our inaugural season focuses on two core programs, piano and composition, bringing together an exceptional faculty and a cohort of dedicated students for an inspiring week of music-making in Miskolc, Hungary.
What Makes Chroma Unique
- World-class piano and composition faculty in an intimate, artist-focused setting
- Masterclasses, one-on-one lessons, and collaborative projects
- Public performances in venues throughout Miskolc
- A supportive environment led by artists who believe in nurturing voice, not just technique
- A grassroots initiative built from artistic passion and personal relationships
Our Location
The festival is based at the Bartók Institute in Miskolc, with concerts planned at various venues throughout the city. Nestled in northeastern Hungary, Miskolc offers a beautiful, culturally rich setting for a truly international musical experience.
Growing a Community
In advance of our first summer, we are organizing fundraising concerts in the U.S. during Fall 2025 to support scholarships and build awareness. Dr. Wang and her collaborators are also visiting universities and conservatories across the country and abroad to present the vision of Chroma and connect with future participants and donors.
Our Future
Chroma is a long-term artistic commitment, a festival that will evolve and grow with time. We hope to add strings, chamber music, and additional disciplines in future seasons. But from the very first year, our goal is clear: to offer something truly special for pianists, composers, and the wider musical community.
